Lightning claims 2 lives in Odisha’s Nayagarh district

Nayagarh: In an unfortunate incident, two persons including a woman were charred to death in lightning strike at Dihanga village under Daspalla block in Nayagarh district this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Udaynath Pradhan and Ashalata Sahu.

Sources said lightning struck the two when Udayanath was going to his farmland and Ashalata was heading towards a nearby river embankment.  Though they were rushed to Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC), doctors declared them brought dead.

The bodies will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem, sources added.

Worth mentioning, heavy rain accompanied with lightning is lashing several parts of Odisha since yesterday after the deep depression formed over Bay of Bengal crossed north Andhra Pradesh coast close to Kakinada yesterday morning.
