Bhubaneswar: At least four persons were reportedly killed while two others suffered injuries in lightning at separate places across the state during the last 24hours.
Reportedly, a person died while two others were injured after lightning stuck them at Pansadiha in Anandpur of Kendujhar district early this morning. Besides, two critically injured were admitted to a hospital in Thakurmunda.
In a separate incident, a person was killed in lightning strike near a jetty at Nairi village under Chilika block today.
Earlier yesterday, a 23-year-old youth was killed in lightning strike in Kalosihiria area under Kuanrmunda police outpost in Sundargarh district. The deceased identified as Budhu Kisan had gone to a nearby market for some work. On his way back, he was struck by lightning. Though he was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, doctors declared him dead.
Similarly, a 60-year-old man was charred to death in lightning in Kadapani area of Nuagaon block, when he was returning to his house after collecting vegetables from his farm land. The deceased, Baju Ganju, was a resident of Lukumbeda village in Nuagaon block.
