Lightning strikes kill six persons in different parts of Odisha

Balasore/Bhadrak: Six persons including three farmers lost their lives after lightning struck them in different parts of Odisha today.

While two of the deceased were from Bahanaga block in Balasore district, two each from Baligaon village under Chandbali block and Tihidi of Bhadrak district. One person from Nilagiri of Balasore district died in lighting strike.

When one Mathuree Das (43) from Baligaon was planting paddy saplings, lightning struck him injuring critically. Farmers working in nearby fields rushed him to Chandbali hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

In another incident, Ramakanta Bej (40) from Olabhara in Chandbali died due to lightning strike while purchasing house construction items in the local bazaar.

One Anand Das (55) from Paitipur village under Tihidi block was also injured in the lightning strike while working in his field. He was rushed to Tihidi hospital where doctors declared him dead.

In Nilagiri, farmer Nityananda Biswal died in a similar way while applying fertilizer to his field today afternoon.
