Lightning strikes school in Odisha, seven hurt

Deogarh: In a tragic incident, seven Class 3 and Class 5 students suffered injuries after lightning struck a government primary school at Kuturaposi village under Tileibani block in Deograh district today. One of the students Srinivas Dehuri, who is critical, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital. The others were identified as Liki Pendei, Bhabani Dehuri, Papina Sahu, Dharitri Sahu, Shalini Sahu and Shalini Dehuri.

According to reports, lightning struck the school when the children were studying inside the classroom at 1 pm. The impact was such that the floors developed cracks.

On getting the information, district education officer Sachidanand Behera reached the spot to take stock of the situation and enquired about the condition of the students.
