Lightning, thunderstorm warning for six Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here issued lightning and thunderstorm warning for six districts.

“Moderate thunderstorm, lightning and moderate rainfall likely to continue at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Gajapati, Rayagada between 6.30 and 10.30 pm,” a bulletin issued by the Met office said this evening.

Earlier in the day, the Met Department said that the southwest monsoon may hit Odisha in the next 4-5 days and the pre-monsoon rain may occur during this period.

The cyclonic circulation over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast still persists and now lies over west central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast. A low pressure is likely to develop over north Bay of Bengal during next 4-5 days, the release said.
