Lingaraj Temple to be plastic-free in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Joining the plastic-free campaign, the authorities of Lingaraj Temple decided to ban polythene on premises of the centuries old shrine here.

No polythene will be allowed into the temple. The temple administration will provide paper bags as part of alternative system, sources said.

The vendors near the temple will purchase the paper bags from the administration and the devotees will take flowers and bael leaves into the temple in paper bag, he said.

The move came at a meeting held by the Lingaraj Temple administration on Tuesday.
