Bhubaneswar, Dec 14
Linkan Subudhi, a Delhi-based Odia social activist who was attacked in a Delhi suburb while protesting child marriage, would contest ensuing Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections as a BJD candidate.
A resident of Chandrasekharpur, Linkan will contest from ward no-8.
Linkan, who had recently accepted the offer after getting a call from the BJD leaders, would meet BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik very soon.
Talking to OST, she said she would campaign door to door and touch every people of her ward seeking support in the elections.
“When I got the offer from the BJD, I thought it to be an opportunity for me to connect with people. Since I come from a middle-class family, I do not have the money to contest the polls without the help of the BJD,” she said.
