Lioness Radha gives birth to cub in Nandankanan zoo in Odisha

The Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Odisha capital welcomed a new guest last night as lioness Radha gave birth to a cub inside the feeding chamber of lion safari in the zoo.

The gender of the cub was yet to be identified.

The condition of the baby lion and mother was stated to be stable.

The lioness was kept inside the chamber away from other animals before beginning of labour pain. Her movement was being monitored through CCTV cameras.

Around 9.30 pm yesterday, Radha gave birth to a cub, CCTV footage revealed.

The lioness might have given birth to more cubs during the night, Nandankanan authorities said.

Worth mentioning, Radha had earlier delivered three cubs on July 23, 2015. However, two of them died after birth.
