The Registrar of State Agricultural Marketing Council has written to the chairmen of these regulated market committees of the state reminding them of the guidelines in this regard recently.

It may be noted that Animal Welfare Board of India has set guidelines to transport livestock such as cattle, goats, sheep, chicken and domestic buffalos to avoid cruelty to animals. However, the regulated market committees openly violate the norms while transporting animals to the regulated animal yards for sale.

The regulated animal sale yards are being run by the associated market committees.

A copy of these guidelines have been sent to the Collectors of every district, Directorate of agriculture, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Secretary of Jibe Nisthurata Nirodha Samiti and Secretary of Cooperative and Animal Husbandry.
