Locals block NH in Odisha’s Malkangiri as minor boy goes missing

Malkangiri: Tension ran high at MV-72 village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district last night as locals blocked NH-326 over the missing of a minor boy.

According to reports, the 16-year-old boy of MV-75 village was working at a mobile phone shop in MV-72 village. The boy had reportedly developed a love affair with the daughter of the shop owner.

After finishing his work at the shop, he went to his friend’s place yesterday. However, he later went missing.

Family members of the boy and locals then went to MV-72 village and blocked the portion of the NH alleging that he was thrashed and kidnapped by the shop owner.

Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road due to the blockade.

On being informed, police reached the spot to pacify the agitators. However, the cops were detained by the locals.

The road blockade was withdrawn this morning after police rescued the boy from Chintoor in Andhra Pradesh.
