Rairangpur/Gorumahisani: Incensed locals today detained the Tatanagar-Badampahar MEMU train for more than seven hours at Badamouda under Gorumahisani police limits in Mayurbhanj alleging faulty design of a lone bridge and its low-quality work, which connects them with the rest part of the district.

Hundreds of locals agitated in front of the train and shouted slogans against railway authorities.

Following incessant rain that battered the village for over a week, the houses of the residents have got waterlogged and rainwater flows at a height of about five feet. “People also from villages coming under Hatia panchayat depend upon the lone bridge. We had repeatedly brought it to the knowledge of the Gorumahisani station master, divisional railway manager (DRM) in Chakradharpur as well as contractor concerned in writing but our demands were not met,” the residents rued.
