Locals up against poachers, hunters in Similipal tiger reserve of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: Two poachers were nabbed by some locals yesterday and were handed over to the Forest department, while they were entering into Similipal tiger reserve of Mayurbhanj district.

According to an official source, the two accused were caught along with their guns and several other incriminating instruments. The duo was forwarded to a court in Baripada later in the day.

Taking to his personal ‘X’ handle, PCCF (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda wrote, “Now the villagers are up against the criminals trying to dent their Pride — The Simlipal Tiger Reserve. Thrilled to share that villagers of Kendua village bordering Similipal, have nabbed 2 accused with 2 loaded guns last night while entering into Similipal for poaching. Kudos🙏”
