Lockdown: 2nd batch of stranded migrants from Kerala reach Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After the first batch of migrant labourers who were stranded in Kerala reached Odisha yesterday, 1042 more persons, including 606 from Ganjam and 104 from Kendrapara district returned to the state in another special Shramik train this morning.

The Ernakulam-Khurda Road special train arrived at Jagannathpur railway station in Ganjam district at 5.58 am today.

Besides Ganjam and Kendrapara, the returnees belong to districts like Cuttack, Kandhamal, Khordha, Jajpur, Balangir, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati,  Keonjhar, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur and Kalahandi. After they arrive, over 35 buses and one SUV were deployed by respective district administrations to take the returnees to different temporary medical camps (TMCs) to keep them under quarantine for 14 days.

Besides, another train from Bangalore carrying around 1200 stranded migrants arrived at Khurda Road railway station at 9. 12 am today. This apart, two more trains from Surat are scheduled to reach Jagannathpur railway station at  1 pm and 4 pm today.

Worth mentioning,  the first train from Kerala with 1150 persons belonging to different districts of Odisha had reached the state yesterday morning.
