Lockdown 3.0: Curfew-like situation to prevail in Odisha for COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Curfew-like situation will prevail in Odisha cities from today in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Centre has extended the nationwide lockdown for the third successive time till May 17.

Acting as per the orders issued by both the Ministry of Home Affairs and Odisha government, restrictions will be imposed by the district administrations and Municipal Corporations on public movements in the cities of the State from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said, “As per lockdown condition effective from today, in all zones & across India, movement out of house is not permitted from 7 PM to 7 AM except for essential purposes. All are requested to stay home during this time. All emergency workers & goods are exempt from this restriction.”

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said as Bhubaneswar is in red zone normal operations and movements will be restricted from 7 pm to 7 am expect emergency services.

Shops in BMC areas will remain open from 7 am to 6.30 pm, he added.

Earlier in the day, the Jagatsinghpur district administration announced curfew in the district to combat the deadly virus. The curfew will be in force from 7.00 pm to 7.00 am everyday for 12 hours in entire district till the end of lockdown.
