Koraput: Koraput district administration today extended lockdown in several places by 4 more days till end of July after 34 more COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours from the tribal-dominated district.

As per the decision, 3 municipalities -- Koraput, Sunabeda and Jeypore; Kotapad NAC and 3 gram panchayats -- Lakhimpur, Charangul and Mathalput --- will remain under lockdown till July 31.

Earlier, lockdown had been declared in these places till July 27.

As the lockdown will continue upto July end, all the non-essential services and movement of vehicles except healthcare and essential services will be strictly prohibited to contain spread of coronavirus in worst-hit areas.

Koraput district has registered 485 COVID-19 cases with 318 active cases so far.
