Loot from Prabodh Tirkey’s house in Bhubaneswar: 5 held; medals, valuables recovered

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested five men for allegedly looting medals and valuables from the residence of former international hockey player Prabodh Tirkey at Unit-VI in Odisha capital.

The accused have been identified as Chitta Ranjan Dalei (30), Sukant Nayak (34), Milu Behera (39), G Ganga (30) and Rajka Mahalik (20).

As many as 14 medals and valuables were recovered from their possession by the Capital police.

More than 100 cases are pending against the accused at various police stations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Gold ornaments, a camera, two mobile phones and an LED TV are among the recovered items.

The accused had on January 21 night entered the house of Tirkey when he and his family members were in Rourkela. A youth engaged by Prabodh to look after the government quarters had informed him about the incident.

A complaint in this regard was lodged with the Capital police.
