The weathermen said rain and thundershowers would occur at most of the places over the State.

The bulletin said: “Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over North Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood at 8.30 am today. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric level. The system would become more marked during the next 24 hours.”

Strong and gusty surface wind, speed reaching 40 to 45 km per hour gusting to 50 km per hour from north-easterly direction, would prevail along and off Odisha coast, while sea condition will remain rough, it further said.

The department has hence advised fishermen not to venture into the sea.
