Lord Jagannath’s Rajarajeswar Besa tomorrow; elaborate arrangements in Odisha’s Puri town

Bhubaneswar: Elaborate arrangements have been made for Lord Jagannath’s Rajarajeswar Besa (Suna Besa) and other rituals at Puri Srimandir on the occasion of Kartika Purnima tomorrow (November 27).

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and Puri district administration have introduced several measures for smooth conduct of rituals and proper crowd management at the 12th century shrine on the occasion.

As many as 50 platoons of police force have been deployed in and around Jagannath temple to ensure safety and security for the devotees. It is expected that at least 5 lakh devotees will throng the shrine to witness the Rajarajeswar Besa on November 27 (Monday), said an official of the district administration today.

SJTA chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das said the temple authorities have held discussions with the servitors of the shrine for early performance of rituals on Kartika Purnima. “All rituals were performed as per the schedule during the first four days of Panchaka. We are hopeful that Lord’s Rajarajeswar Besa and other rituals will be performed smoothly tomorrow. Steps have been taken to manage crowd at the shrine,” said the SJTA chief.

Puri district Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh said at least 50 lifeguards and adequate number of security personnel will be deployed on the beach to avoid any untoward incident. The administration has erected barricades on the Grand Road to regulate crowd at Srimandir. Policemen will also guard all holy ponds in Puri town, he added.

Security personnel as well as volunteers will assist the Habisyalis (elderly women who observe Kartika Brata) during their visit to the shrine on the occasion, added the official.
