Sambalpur: JSW Bhushan Power & Steel Limited (JSWBPSL) celebrated the world-famous Rath Yatra in the township. The festival started with a grand celebration of the Murti Sthapna & Pran Pratistha of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, Lord Balabhadra & Lord Sudarshan in the township temple, here. The sacred ritual of Chhera Pahanra (the Ritual of Sweeping) of the chariots was performed by Anil Kumar Singh, President & WTD, JSWBPSL.
More than 3000 township residents along with employees from outside came together to enjoy the pious grand procession of the Rath Yatra. Devotees pulled the chariot carrying deities through the streets, symbolizing a journey to the deity’s aunt's house.
The celebration also included honoring Padmashri Mitrabhanu Gountia, the writer & composer of the Sambalpuri cult song, “Rangabati”was felicitated by Anil Kumar Singh. Abanti Naik, the Sarpanch of Thelkoloi, who also attended this festival as a guest of honour was felicitated by Neelam Singh.
The festival symbolizes humility & devotion to Lord Jagannath, emphasizing that everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord. The celebration brought the community closer by enriching the cultural heritage of the state showcasing diversity in equality.
