Love couple found hanging from tree under mysterious circumstances in Keonjhar

Anandapur: The bodies of a love couple were spotted yesterday while hanging from a tree at Taratara Tota (garden) under Anandapur police limits in Keonjhar, which were identified by locals today.

The deceased minor boy was identified as Kirtan Jena’s son Kamalakanta from Dadhibamanpur and the minor girl as Budhia Jena’s daughter Mili from Ratakana village under Nandipada police limits.

The two minors were hanging with the help of a saree worn by the girl. Their bodies had decomposed and the bodies were recovered in presence of both the families and local magistrate.

According to an official, the love affair between Kamalakanta and Mili had started from a wrong phone call. Subsequently, bond between the duo strengthened and they decided to tie nuptial knot.

Marriage of the love couple was being solemnised five days ago, which was then stopped by the police and district administration on the ground of ‘child marriage’. As they had not reached the prescribed legal age for marriage, local police asked them to wait for few months more.

However, the minors faced untimely death, Anandapur IIC Manoranjan Pradhan said.

Anandapur police registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection. Police have launched a probe and sent the bodies of Kamalakanta and Mili to hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, family of the minor boy has alleged that the couple was killed by family of the girl. On the other hand, the girl’s father Budhia refuted the charge saying it to be ‘baseless’.
