Low Pressure Area forms over Odisha; Heavy rainfall likely in these districts today

Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area has formed over north Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand & Gangetic West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin issued this morning.

“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand & neighbourhood, a Low Pressure Area has formed over north Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand & Gangetic West Bengal with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level,” the bulletin said.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecasted heavy rainfall for several districts of Odisha for today.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Deogarh,” the Meteorological Centre predicted and issued Orange Warning for these districts.

“Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nabarangpur and Nuapada,” it added and issued Yellow Warning for these districts.
