Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin today.

"Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal, a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height," the bulletin said.

Due to the existing system, several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall as the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued warning in this regard.

"Heavy to very heavy Rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur," the Meteorological Centre forecasted and issued Orange Warning for these districts.

"Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Sambalpur," the Meteorological Centre predicted and issued Yellow Warning for these districts.
