Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around tomorrow and intensify into a depression by May 24, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
"A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Southwest Bay of Bengal around 22nd May. It is likely to move initially northeastwards and concentrate into a Depression over central parts of Bay of Bengal by morning of 24th May," the agency said.
Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall on May 24 and 25 due to the predicted system.

May 24: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) likely at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph likely over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph likely over the districts of Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
May 25: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) likely at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, and heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) over Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur and Keonjhar.
