Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin issued this morning.

The system is likely to intensify into a depression around November 16, the agency said.

"A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. It is likely to move west northwestwards and intensify into a depression over Central & adjoining South Bay of Bengal around 16th November, 2023," the IMD said in the bulletin.

Under its influence, several parts of Odisha may receive rainfall from November 15.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued forecast in this regard.

November 15: Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur & at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara & dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

November 16: Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri & dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

November 17: Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri & dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

November 18: Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar & dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
