Low pressure: Flash flood warning issued for several Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued flash flood warning for several districts of Odisha in view of the low pressure area that formed over the northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood today.

It is likely to move west-northwestward during the next 2-3 days and become more marked over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during next 24 hours.

Here’s day-wise weather forecast for Odisha in connection with the low pressure.

September 20: Red Warning- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Dhenkanal.

Impact:
1. Water logging in low lying areas and localized flash flood in some areas.
2. Some damage to kutcha house and informal road.
3. Landslides in hilly areas.
4. Traffic congestion, underpass road and waterlogging in low lying areas of urban areas.
5. Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.

Orange Warning- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Bolangir.

Impact:
1. Water logging in low lying areas.
2. Some damage to kutcha house and informal road.
3. Landslides in hilly areas.
4. Traffic congestion, underpass road and water logging in low lying areas of urban areas.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

September 21: Red Warning- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Deogarh.

Impact:
1. Water logging in low lying areas and localized flash flood in some areas.
2. Possible damage to kutcha house and informal road.
3. Landslides in hilly areas.
4. Traffic congestion, underpass road and water logging in low lying areas of urban areas.
5. Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.

Orange Warning- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar.

Impact:
1. Water logging in low lying areas.
2. Possible damage to kutcha house and informal road.
3. Landslides in hilly areas.
4. Traffic congestion, underpass road and water logging in low lying areas of urban areas.

Yellow Warning- Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Dhenkanal.

September 22: Yellow Warning- Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
