Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 18 while several parts of the state may receive heavy rainfall from tomorrow, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

"A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal between 4.5 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around 18th August 2023," the Meteorological Centre said.

Below is day-wise forecast in connection with the predicted rainfall.

August 17: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul and Sambalpur (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput (Yellow Warning).

August 18: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Jharsuguda (Yellow Warning).

August 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada and Bargarh (Yellow Warning).
