Low pressure formation likely in 24 hrs; Rainfall to lash these Odisha dists till Sept 21

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, under the influence of which several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall till September 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.

“The cyclonic circulation over North & adjoining Central Bay of Bengal now lies over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts during next 24 hours,” the IMD said in its morning bulletin issued today.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Orange and Yellow Warnings for several districts of Odisha in this connection.

Below is day-wise forecast for Odisha.

September 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Puri (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Kendrapara (Yellow Warning).

September 20: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Nayagarh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh and Nuapada (Yellow Warning).

September 21: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir and Nuapada (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh (Yellow Warning).
