Low pressure forms over Bay, heavy rainfall likely to lash Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over east-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha at least till June 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

It is likely to move west­-northwestwards and become well marked during next 48 hours, it said.

Here’s day-wise weather forecast for Odisha for the next five days:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 09.06.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2020). Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south Odisha and at a few places over the districts of North Odisha. Yellow warning(be updated):

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul,  Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, also heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput & Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.06.2020). Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of  North Odisha. Yellow warning(be updated):

1.Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada & Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi.

2.Thunderstorm with lightning  and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack Balasore,  Bhadrak,  Khurda, Dhenkanal,  Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam,
