Low pressure forms over Bay of Bengal, likely to further intensify

Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area formed over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department said today.

The system is likely to further intensify during the next 24 hours and move northwestwards towards Odisha coast.

It is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha as the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for several districts of the state till September 21.

Below is day-wise forecast for Odisha.

September 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Puri (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Kendrapara (Yellow Warning).

September 20: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Nayagarh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh and Nuapada (Yellow Warning).

September 21: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir and Nuapada (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh (Yellow Warning).
