Low pressure: Heavy downpour likely in Odisha today

Bhubaneswar: Heavy downpour is likely in several districts of Odisha today under influence of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over coastal Bangladesh & adjoining West Bengal persists. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto upper tropospheric levels. It is likely to move westwards across West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during next 48 hours.

Under impact of the well marked low pressure, heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj and Balasore during next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda till tomorrow morning.

Under the influence of the well marked low pressure area over coastal Bangladesh & adjoining West Bengal, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely over North Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood & off Odisha coast.

The fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha Coast & North Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.
