Low Pressure: Heavy rainfall warning for Odisha till July 28

Bhubaneswar: Under influence of well marked low pressure over Bay of Bengal off Odisha and West Bengal coasts, heavy rainfall may lash several districts of the State during next five days.

The low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood now lies as a well marked low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation now extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level, the Regional Meteorological Centre stated in a bulletin today.

Since the southwest monsoon is now active over Odisha, the well marked low pressure is likely to bring more rains for the coastal, north coastal and south coastal districts till July 28.

Since, the squally weather with strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha coast till the morning of 25th July, the fishermen are advised not to venture into sea of north Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal & along and off Odisha coast during the period.

The Regional MeT has issued orange and yellow warnings for today and next five days.

Weather warnings for districts of Odisha till July 28 morning:

Day 1 (valid from 1.30 PM of July 23 upto 8.30 AM of July 24)

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha and Puri.

Day 2 (valid from 8.30 AM of July 24 upto 8.30 AM of July 25)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.

Day 3 (valid from 8.30 AM of July 25 upto 8.30 AM of July 26)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

Day 4 (valid from 8.30 AM of July 26 upto 8.30 AM of July 27)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul and Deogarh.

Day 5 (valid from 8.30 AM of July 27 upto 8.30 AM of July 28)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul.
