Low Pressure: IMD issues heavy rainfall warning for these Odisha districts till July 15

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

“Yesterday’s Low Pressure Area over coastal areas of south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height. It is very likely to become more marked during next 48 hours,” the IMD said in its bulletin today.

Below is day-wise forecast for Odisha in connection with the low pressure area:

* Day-1 (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 12.07.22): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, and Malkangiri (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Nuapada, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Sonepur, Puri, Khordha and Balasore (Yellow Warning).

* Day-2 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 12.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 13.07.22): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Angul (Yellow Warning).

* Day-3 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 13.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 14.07.22): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal (Yellow Warning).

* Day-4 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 14.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 15.07.22): Heavy to very heavy (7 to 20cm) rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Bargarh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Rayagada (Yellow Warning).

* Day-5 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 15.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 16.07.22): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Bargarh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada (Yellow Warning).
