Low Pressure-induced heavy rain to lash these Odisha districts on October 3; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to Low Pressure Area over south Jharkhand and its neighbourhood with associated cyclonic circulation, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm/7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places in 17 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Orange Warning for the next 24 hours and Yellow Warning for two days thereafter.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “The Low Pressure Area over south Jharkhand and neighbourhood now lies over southwest Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea levels tilting southwards with height. The line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through Gulmarg, Dharamshala, Pantnagar, Etawah, Morena, Sawai Madhopur, Jodhpur, Barmer and 25.7°N/70.3°E.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and at many places of rest districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 34.4oC was recorded at Malkangiri and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.0oC was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Angul.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Sundargarh.

For Tuesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.10.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 04.10.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Jajpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
