Low pressure: Intense rainfall likely in Odisha’s Twin City; orange warning for several districts

Bhubaneswar: Amid active monsoon, the low pressure formed over south coastal Odisha is likely to bring more downpour in twin city – Bhubaneswar and Cuttack – today and other districts during next few days.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, A Well Marked Low Pressure Area lies over south coastal Odisha and neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto middle tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height.

Also, the monsoon trough is active and south of its normal position.

As per weather forecast/warning by Bhubaneswar MeT, a few spells of rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells with 2-3 cm per hour of rain is very likely over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area today till tomorrow morning. This may impact temporary traffic congestion and waterlogging in low lying areas.

The Regional Meteorological Centre today issued orange warning for several districts for three days.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada for next 24 hours.

Similarly the orange warning issued for Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Bargarh districts where heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places between July 14 and 15 morning.

The orange warning of heavy rainfall has also been issued for one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi between July 15 and 16.

The yellow warning has been issued for one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Nuapada, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Balangir, Sonepur, Puri, Khordha, Balasore for next 24 hours.

Moreover, heavy rainfall (yellow warning) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, and Balangir during July 12 and 13.

Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall (yellow warning) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal during July 13-14. The heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada between July 14 and 15.
