Low Pressure likely in 24 hours: Rainfall warning issued for Odisha till August 10

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall till August 10 as a low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

“Yesterday’s cyclonic circulation over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal now lies over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood and extends up to 5.8 km above mean Sea level tilting southwestwards with height. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours. It is likely to become more marked during Subsequent 24 hours,” the Regional Meteorological Centre here said.

“Under influence of gradual strengthening of monsoon flow and the anticipated low pressure area, rainfall activity very likely to increase gradually and widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at one or two places likely to occur during 6th to 10th August over the districts of Odisha,” it forecasted.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Malkangiri, Boudh and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, and Kendrapara.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 07.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 08.08.22.)

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bolangir, Ganjam, Puri, and Rayagada.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Khordha, Sonepur, Angul, Nayagarh, Gajapati and Bargarh.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 08.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 09.08.22)

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 09.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 10.08.22)

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal and Jajpur with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur and Boudh.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.

Day-5: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 10.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 11.08.22):

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Angul, Kendrapara, and Dhenkanal.
