Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall due to a low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted today.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall likely to lash as many as 17 districts of Odisha during the next 36 hours, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.
Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Puri and Sundargarh districts would experience heavy rainfall on July 6. Later in the day, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Jharsuguda.
Rainfall would prevail in Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khordha, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts till August 7 afternoon.
Rough to very rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over major parts of Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days, for which fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.
On the other hand, thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning was today issued for Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Jagatsinghpur districts till 1:15 PM.
