Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around October 20, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

"A cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Andaman Sea extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Central parts of Bay of Bengal around 20th October," the agency said.

However, the system is unlikely to play spoilsport in Durga Puja festivities in Odisha. The predicted low pressure area is likely to move westwards towards north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts with low probability of further intensification into depression, the IMD had earlier said in its North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis.

Furthermore, the Regional Meteorological Centre here hasn't issued rainfall warning for Odisha at least till October 21.
