Low pressure over BoB becomes well-marked; heavy rainfall alert for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall as the low pressure area over the Northeast and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal became well-marked today.

According to IMD, the low pressure area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area at 0530 hrs IST of today over Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move northwestwards towards north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts during next 24 hours.

The regional meteorological centre of the IMD predicted heavy rainfall for Odisha for three days starting today.

Day1:

As per the weather warning, Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore today.

Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha today.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Balangir and Kalahandi today.

Day 2:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Balangir during October 1 to 2.

Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Day 3:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during October 2 to 3.

Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Balasore during the period.
