Bhubaneswar: With onset of southwest monsoon over Odisha bringing relief from scorching heat and high humidity, more rainfall likely in upcoming days under a possible low pressure over Bay of Bengal.
According to regional meteorological centre of IMD, a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. Under its influence, a low pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours.
As the southwest monsoon has advanced into remaining parts of Odisha and covered the entire state since yesterday, under impact of the system over the Bay, the state is likely to receive heavy rainfall from today.
The IMD issued orange and yellow warnings for heavy rainfall for following districts till June 28:
From June 24-25: Orange warning: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.
Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
From June 25-26: Orange warning: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Balangir, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh.
Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur and Nuapada.
From June 26-27: Orange warning: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh, Nabarangapur with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh.
Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.
From June 27-28: Yellow warning: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar.
