Low pressure: Rainfall alert for Odisha till Nov 19

Bhubaneswar: The Regional MeT Center today predicted that rain will last several parts of the state from tomorrow till November 19.

As per a special bulletin issued by the MeT Centre, light to moderate rain is likely lash several parts of  the state from tomorrow. The weathermen also issued Yellow Warning for five districts– Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.

“Yesterday’s low pressure area over south Andaman sea and adjoining Thailand coast moved slightly west-northwestwards and lay over central parts of Andaman sea at 5.30 am today. It persisted over the same region at 8.30 am. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become well marked over north andaman sea & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by November 15. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west–northwestwards across east-central & adjoining southeast BoB, concentrate into a depression over west-central BoB by November 17 and reach near south Andhra Pradesh coast around November 18,” the bulletin read.

Warnings in association with the system:

Rainfall 
November 17: Light to moderate rainfall very likely to occur at many places over districts of south coastal Odisha with heavy falls at isolated places over the district of Gajapati and Ganjam.
November 18: Light to moderate rainfall very likely to occur at many places over districts of south Odisha with heavy falls at isolated places over the district of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
Wind 
Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to occur over westcentral
adjoining east BoB during November 16 to 18 and commence, along & off Andhra Pradesh & south
Odisha coasts from November 17.
Sea condition
Sea condition will be rough to very rough over west-central November 16-18 and along & off Andhra
Pradesh & south Odisha coasts on November 17 & 18.

Fishermen warning
fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea areas of west-central BoB during November 16-18 and along and off south Odisha coasts on November 17 & 18. Fishermen whoever out at sea are advised to return to coast by November 17.
