Low Pressure: Rainfall drenches coastal Odisha; Warning issued for these dists for today

Bhubaneswar: Coastal Odisha received significant rainfall today under the impact of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal.

The system is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of the state today.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore and Bhadrak,” the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

“The low pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood now lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast during next 24 hours,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin today.
