Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
"Yesterday’s Low Pressure Area over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts has intensified into a Well-Marked Low Pressure Area over the same region today morning. It is likely to concentrate into a Depression over the same region during next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts," the agency said in its morning bulletin.
Heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the following districts of Odisha for today.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput (Orange Warning).
- Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj (Yellow Warning).
