Low pressure to become more marked during next 24 hrs; very heavy rainfall alert for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today and tomorrow under influence of low pressure area lying over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts.

According to IMD, the Low Pressure Area over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts is very likely to become more marked over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hours.

Under influence of the above system, several parts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. The rain is on the cards for several districts till September 14 morning, the Bhubaneswar MeT predicted.

Sept 10-11

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Khordha, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Cuttack.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur and Nuapada.

Sept 11-12

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Nuapada, Sonepur and Puri .

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Rayagada and Cuttack.

Sept 12-13

Yellow warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Rayagada, Nuapada, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj.

Sept 13-14

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi.
