“Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over West central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast, a low pressure area has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts at 8:30 AM today with the extension of associated upper air cyclonic up to 7.6 km above the mean sea levels. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal districts and heavy rainfall at one or two places over interior districts during next 24 hours,” the release added.

The Met office has advised fishermen to be cautious while venturing into sea as gusty surface wind speed from north-easterly direction with speed reaching 35 to 40 kmph gusting up to 50 kmph would prevail along and off the coast during the period which would make the sea condition rough.
