Balasore: In a tragic incident, as many as three members of a family sustained critical burn injuries as an LPG cylinder exploded at Puruna village under Nilagiri police limits in Odisha's Balasore district, today.

According to reports, the mishap took place when cooking was underway in the house. While the cylinder blasted due to unknown reason, firecrackers kept inside a shop located next to the house caught fire.

The house and the shop were severely damaged in the explosion.

The victims were rescued and rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

"Firecrackers were kept inside a bag in the shop, for which the situation worsened. The house collapsed under the impact of the blast. The situation is currently under control," a Fire Services personnel said.
