The injured elderly woman devotee identified as Rangalata Nayak of Ghanteswar in Kendrapara district has been shifted to the district headquarters hospital here, reports said.

While Rangalata fell on the ground after losing her balance, other devotees trampled on her. She was rescued by the Sri Mandir police in an unconscious state and admitted to the district headquarters hospital.

Though there are no visible injury marks on her body, she has sustained injury on her head, hospital sources said.

While the Sri Mandir witnesses rush of devotees on Sundays, there was an unprecedented rush of devotees today to witness the Radha Damodar vesha of the Lord, this being the holy month of Kartik.
