Bhubaneswar: Utkal University's Geology professor Madhumita Das has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Fakir Mohan University in Odisha's Balasore district.

Das was appointed by Odisha Governor and Chancellor SC Jamir.

She joined as a lecturer in Geology in 1980 in Utkal University, as a Reader in 1995 and was continuing as a Professor since 2003.

She has been a DAAD fellow and has 120 research publications published in national and international journals.
