Madhya Pradesh tourist drowns while taking bath at Odisha’s Chandrabhaga beach

Konark: A youth met his watery grave today while he was taking a bath along with several others of his family at Chandrabhaga beach under Marine police limits in Odisha’s Puri district.

The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Sudam Prasad Shah. Sudam belonged to Madhya Pradesh.

According to a source, Sudam lost his balance when taking a bath and was swept away. However, four others including a child had a close shave. Around 40 tourists belonging to a family and their relatives had been to Puri for site seeing. They had gone to Chandrabhaga leading to the youth’s sad demise.

On being informed, a team of Marine police reached Chandrabhaga beach, and seized the youth’s body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. Police have initiated a probe into the untimely death.

A pall of gloom descended on the family following the mishap.

It is pertinent to mention, a youth drowned on October 25 last year while taking a bath in the sea near Light House under Baliapanda police limits in Puri town of this district. The deceased was identified as Archit Banerjee, who belonged to neighbouring West Bengal.
