Magic of Sarees- An online warehouse of preloved sarees

Bhubaneswar: Almost every woman’s wardrobe has a special section for sarees. Be it handloom or fancy, the six-yards of elegance simply adds to the beauty of any woman who drapes it. However, with time, fashion statement changes and the collection begins to seem mundane. That’s where ‘MOS Preloved’ comes in.

MOS Preloved, an initiative by Susmita Misra, helps women sell their old sarees (in good condition) with ease. You can sell any of your sarees on MOS Preloved website– www.magicofsarees.com. Not only that, you can also buy expensive sarees at affordable prices. It serves as a common platform for both buyers and sellers of preloved sarees.

“Many a time, we get bored of wearing the same saree and that piece takes the bottom spot in the wardrobe for year-round. MOS Preloved is a common platform that gives women a chance to wear someone else’s expensive saree at a lower price. Customers can buy a saree from the website at 50 to 60 per cent less than the market price,” said CEO Susmita, an MBA degree holder from a reputed management institute.

Just like any other e-commerce platform, customers can buy sarees from a wide range of collections available on the website– www.magicofsarees.com . To sell, click on the ‘sell’ tab, provide personal details and a description of the saree along with a photo of the same.

Speaking about how it all started, Susmita said about 11 years ago, she and her sister Suneeta opened a Facebook page ‘The Magic of Sarees‘, where they encouraged women to wear sarees. The idea to develop an online forum for saree lovers sparked off from a casual conversation between friends about the ‘saree state of affairs’. Later, ‘MOS Preloved’ was launched in July last year giving an opportunity to women for sell and purchase of preloved sarees, she added.

Sarees that have been previously owned and loved now could find their way to new shelves.

Susmita, who previously worked for two reputed companies in leadership roles, said her love for sarees and passion for sustainable fashion made her come up with this innovative venture.

“About 30% of the sarees added to the product line belong to my family and friends. Recently, a woman bought a Mysore crepe silk, a Kanjivaram, a Bomkai silk and a Coimbatore cotton saree for just Rs 13,200,” the entrepreneur added.
