Bhubaneswar: The Maha Shivaratri will be held at the Lingaraj Temple in Odisha capital this year amid COVID restrictions.
A decision in this regard was taken today at a meeting between the Khordha Collector and members of the Lingaraj Temple Trust Board.
It was decided that the Mahadeepa will be placed atop the temple at 10 pm on the day of Maha Shivaratri.
However, the decision regarding entry of devotees to the temple on Maha Shivaratri was yet to be taken while a discussion in this regard will be held later.
Maha Shivaratri was also celebrated at the shrine with adherence to COVID protocol, last year.
Worth mentioning, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has permitted the reopening of all religious institutions in the city for devotees from February 12.
The civic body took the decision keeping in view the decline in daily COVID-19 cases.
